Yea, I know I can't find one, but my 88-yr-old dad is looking.
This is a picture of him with his favorite truck back in 1966. Even if you can't provide me with one, post some pictures, etc. You will make an old trucker's day.
Your pictures brought back some found memories of riding down the road when I was kid with my dad in the 60's with a old chevy with a 348 or 409 and a 38 or 42 foot floor livestock trailer. We also had some ford's with 534 gas in that time frame. Back then he was running 15 trucks and floor trailers no pots then. In 1966 it bought his first diesel's a ford W-1000 with a 220 cummins and a CMC with V-8 trow flow both single axles and by the time he died in 1974 at the age of 48 all the gasers truck were gone and diesel's twin screws and pots had taken the fleet over. My folks also had a small truck stop back then and when dad died mom sold the livestock hauling business and kept the truck stop and we did haul our own fuel until she sold the place and retired in 1995. I wish their were picture of those old trucks but my folks weren't the picture taking bunch. |
