Anamoose, ND | I was curious how many of you are planning on pre-buying fertilizer before the first of the year for income tax purposes. The reason that I ask is because I would like to know how many are comfortable pre-buying right now at the price levels fertilizer is at. Most years we will prebuy all of our needs before the first of the year but with prices coming down you have to wonder if prices will continue to fall as winter goes on. Last time I checked the local coop was at $900+ for NH3, $450 for 46-0-0. I really hate to go buy a bunch of fertilizer just to reduce my taxes, then watch the prices go down-it sure wouldn't take much of a price drop to offset the income tax increase. I am thinking maybe equipment purchases may be a safer bet......upgrade a few of the smaller pieces of equipment and hope that fertilizer continues to come down. What does everyone else think? | |
