To follow up: Unable to find a direct replacement for my ALO hay spear, I ended up purchasing a replacement spear from my local JD dealer that has the same metric tapered socket end as the Kverneland.  Frankly the Deere spear has a lot more steel in its 49" length and should hold up well and offset its higher cost.
