Little River, TX | Unfortunately universal truths are usually less than universal when all is said and done.
Here, in the Central Texas Blacklands I have applied 1,500 lbs/A of anhydrous into a bermudagrass sod and, with no further nitrogen fertilizers, production improved every year for 7 years. That was 1,200 lbs of N/A. The 7 th year my records showed I had recovered 1,400 lbs of the nitrogen, Being prudent I started nitrogen fertilization to that little patch.
Now bermudagrass hay growers in East Texas find it necessary to apply nitrogen every 3 to 5 weeks, rain or shine. Different soils, slightly different climate, requires different management styles.
So if you find something is true for your conditions please include soil type & locatio to maintain credability. | |
