Subject: RE: tiling land

Gettysburg, PA
I am assuming all on here are talking about grid tiling.  Here we tile to take care of hill side seeps/winter springs.  We intercept the water before it comes to the surface with tile cause once it is above the clay layer it doesn't go back down again.  So I was trained by two old timers on how to "witch" for the springs and tile is laid out accordingly.  Tile here is installed with backhoe mostly due to the shale layers that need "peeled" out.  Also, we almost always blind the pipe with stone.  Most is 4" although when we get into longer runs on flatter ground we go to 6".
