Subject: Re: rain, rain, rain

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
"This current storm system might have just turned a less than ideal harvest situation into a very messy, damaging harvest situation."
That is for sure. A lot of corn left to harvest. A lot will be down. The grain is too wet. The fields are too wet. And we're to get upwards of a foot of snow plus wind gusts to 60 mph.
Personally, I could see losing 25% of my corn. Possibly all of my milo as it is drilled and once it goes down, it goes flat and nothing can pick it up. Harvest from here on will be slow and messy at best. We HAD good crops too. October has seen 6" of rain in the last 2 1/2 weeks. and it is still raining. We're not used to this out here.
