Little River, TX | A variety that will survive that kind of drought conditions may be the way to go. My experience here is such that we avoid public domain and common varieties. Reason being from time to time an epidemic of one disease or pest comes along and kills off all varieties except those that have resistance to that particular problem. Therefor I want as much resistance built into the plant as possible. Hope to have a good alfalfa also resistant to the cowpea aphid before I retire.
Upon Reflection, what good is a just in case pest resistance when that particular variety will not survive the climatic conditions!
If something like Rhino will survive and to some extent thrive on less than 15" of rain in the land of the Frozen Chosen, that is the way to go. | |
