Subject: EZ 500 & offset

I'm after a bit of advice in regards to the "offset" in a EZ Guide 500 when running in a JD with a JD 36' header. The actual amount of offset (right against left) is 1160mm but if I use that figure, the overlap is considerable one way, & the underlap is considerable on the return swath run.  It seems to me that the offset should be around 1/2 the measured offset of the header. Can anyone point me in the right direction.  PS. There is only one machine in the paddock at one time.
