CaseFarmer - 10/17/2008 06:29 I don't have a clue on how all this works but.... Cell Phone????? can u explain just what the heck that does for you? also how hard is that on your battery...is it like you have a bluetooth headset and it drains the battery alot faster I don't know whether to read attitude into that question or not. But here goes. RTK requires a localized correction signal from a base station. That signal must be transmitted from the base to the rover GPS (on the tractor). Most OEM solutions use 900 MHz radios to transmit the signal. Those radios are a very weak signal with limited range. Many times repeater radios are required. A new system uses cell phones to transmit the signal over the internet. The cell phone is dedicated to the system in most cases. It sends the signal to the GPS via Bluetooth. The cell phone is on a mobile charger, so the battery is charging continuously.
