Subject: "NOTICE" Check Shoe Augers in "new" JD 70 series combines

Nebraska
John Deere had a production issue when building the 70 series combines. Who ever was putting in the shoe augers at the time did not realize there were left and right auger flighting on the shoe augers. When picking corn with a 9670- combine kept throwing corn out the right side of the machine if you tried to push it to 3000 bu/hour. Did a power shut down and Checked the shoe augers and noticed auger 1 was 1/2 full, 2 was Full, 3 appeared empty, and 4 was heaping FULL. Dealer said to adjust the dividers in the shoe augers. Did as requested and didn't notice anything. Then the shoe auger clutch started slipping. Check again and auger 3 had the wrong flighting and was pushing grain to the front of the combine and into augers 2 and 4. Combine had 100 hrs on it and # 3 shoe auger was shot. Mechanic later told me a sister store had two new 70 series combines with all 4 augers in wrong. They found those right away but failed to notify anyone about the problem.

I wish if ANYONE in Deere discovers a production problem that all dealers and mechanics would be informed of the problems so they can check the machines and fix right away.
