Second that! Am curious to know what model combine and what cornhead are you using? If you are using a Geringhoff, Drago, or other third party head, I often see that they don't pick as cleanly as a Lexion cornhead does. You take in more of the stalk with them. Doesn't usually give us a problem, but we do have to do a few things differently when ingesting more trash. You are getting some rotor loss, is that right? First, at the concave, try running your threshing settings slower and closer. By that I mean a cylinder speed of 250-300 and a concave clearance of 16-22. Running slower will preserve your grain quality while the tighter concave clearance will provide more separation at the threshing concave. You will still see the "hairpinning" of the trash when you stop the machine, but running the concave tighter will ensure that corn is getting through while you are harvesting, and you will see a drop in rotor loss. Secondly, where are your rotors set? 500 rpm is a great starting point, but you can go slower or faster to give more separation. Try down to 400 or as high as 750. These things are unbeatable in corn and simply awesome!
