Subject: Correct auger finger setting on 1020?

Owens Cross Roads, AL
I am still having trouble today getting my 25' 1020 header to feed. The green beans are wadding up between the auger and feeder chain. I set the feeder chain in the hard to feed position and it didn't help much. Tonight I noticied the fingers on the auger are sticking out about 1" directly in front of the feeder chain or 9 o'clock position and fully in the 11 o'clock position. Is this correct? It seems to me the auger is carrying the crop around too far, but I'm not sure. The feeder chain is about 2" from the front of the feeder plate and the book says 1 1/2" max. My dealer runs 3 2188's and he has two augers with the full auger extensions and all the fingers removed and said they feed great. I have never heard of not having the fingers in the auger. Need help quick, Wilson.
