I believe that it's just a solenoid on the fuel pump that derates the pump in lower gears. The county that I work for has had quite a few 140's G's and H's. The worst we've ever had to do was back one off for more power. 4500 hours seems real low, one that we had just traded in a year ago had 21,000 hours with no motor or tranny work ever done to it. They are a good machine and very reliable.
