Might want to check the gear box's that's hidden up in the grain tank. If the bearings are failing it will work for a while then it get very expensive to rebuild , I caught mine failing a few years ago but the neighbor did not . Same kind of sysptoms .Grain auger alarms would go on and then mystically go off. When it stayed on and plugged the elevator then the shaft and gears have failed$$$$$$$$$$.
Belt would just slip. It's easy to forget about checking the gear oil dip stick in the grain tank gear box. Mine had dust and crude oil mixture in it before i had the bearing fail. Found mine bearings failing when I took the grain tank auger out for replacement because of worn flighting , Got lucky.
