In my area, 2 feet rock, topped by 5-10 inches of gravel, hard floor on top of that. And the cement/asphalt is 8-12 inches above surrounding grade. With a good overhang on the eve's.
zero loss, zero moisture on floors
Producers around here kinda treat timothy like gold,, and at the prices,,, it sorta is..
My admiration to those who roadside hay stacks.
