Subject: Re: Augers-Westfield, Farm King, or Sakundiak

Galahad, Alberta
The Buhler/Farm King seem to be gaining a lot of popularity. My cousin had 2 13" Brandts, then traded them on B/FK's and is very happy. Helped a neighbour finish canola on Sunday and he commented as he was dumping the truck that he would probably not buy a Brandt the next time. They had some production probems with the 13" models, couldn't get the flighting straight and it would hammer and rub in the tube, creating hot spots, sometimes hot enough that it would discolour the paint. Another neighbour traded his Brandt off on a 13" B/FK for this very reason. There were a pile of 10" Brandts sold and they were pretty good, we like ours a lot. There are two of the new Sakundiak augers around here, the owners are happy with them. There are a pile of Westfields out there, they do the job, but you gotta keep an eye on the seals in the gearboxes, check the oil levels in them. They are cheaper for a reason.
