Paul, here's the spreadsheet I made to compare reduced rate precision placed planter "N" to our current rate of pre-plant NH3 application.

My plan would be to either pull a 500 gallon poly tank behind the planter or Saddle tanks on the tractor. I'll also add some Ammonium Thiosulfate to the UAN. 

But, I'm not sure I'll go 100% N with the planter. Just do away with the pre-plant pass. Bill Moyer's posts the last couple days support my thinking that there a place for Foliar applied "Snake Oil" N products.  I just think the window to apply those products is narrow.  Micro-Management of the corn crop is a must.  That's another post.
