roaming | a null modem (or any serial cable) does not typically supply power, unless you're using the AgLeader-bastardized version of the serial or null modem spec, which does supply power (and can therefore fry devices that are not expecting power through the serial connection.
a null modem is required if the receiver transmits on pin 3 rather than pin 2. I don't know if the Garmin works this way or not.
Starting with MY07 70/8010s, CNH went to a new standard GPS connection which is a 10-pin Metripack connector. This connector allows room for both CAN and RS232 GPS signals (although both aren't always used, depending on the machine). The old 5-pin connector was serial only. | |
