| I think you could draw straws on which you took and it wouldn't make much difference. I've got an N-14 that I like. A Cat wouldn't bother me either. I've never been fond of Detroits, but they're still a good engine. I'd take any of the three in a truck if the truck was otherwise setup the way I wanted.
All would have their failings and all would have their points.
I would second the vote for the 3406B though. As older mechanical engines go, that had to be one of the toughest ever built. I know of a couple that were around here that saw 2 mil KM with nothing more than some head work and that didn't often get said of any other engine of that vintage...
