What's the coldest temperature this compressor will ever see? Straight 30 is a good pick if the compressor's in a warm [above 50 F] room, but much colder than that will give you hellish startup current spikes.
If this is the case, a multi-vis or lower viscosity oil might serve you better.
When you put the oil in, cut the front off of the empty jug [plastic bottle I assume], punch a hole in the corner, and "tie-strap" it to the power cord. Now you have a permanent record of the last fill.
