Subject: short wheelbase semi and legal load

CENTRAL ILLINIOS
Looking at a couple of semi tractors, one with 160" wheelbase and one with 198" wheelbase to pull 40' hopper trailer. Local grain hauler tells me I won't be able to scale 80000 (in Illinois) with anything shorter than 205" wheelbase but he does not know how much less it will scale. I have a booklet from IDOT "Understanding the Illinois Size and Weight Laws" but of course it is useless. These trucking regulations seem to be written only on the back sides of the troopers sunglasses as I can't find them anywhere else. Anyone able to help. More interested in the 198". TIA.
