Subject: A Safety reminder

Caraway, AR

Myself and hired man were tqking the 24" fan blade off a VA grain fan yesterday. Motor didn't sound right and had kicked off.

For some reason we didn't turn main power source off, thinking, (or not)that the motor wouldn't, couldn't, shouldn't start by itself.

I had two bolts out of hub and working on the third one when the motor started........by itself. We jerked our hands and tools out and  ran to cut power off at breaker box. Socket stayed on bolt as motor got to full speed before it was turned off.

All was well after the event was over.....could have been different.

Please be careful, especially with those VA fans.........we've had two to explode over the yrs.

Have a good night,

John
