Subject: RE: started on beans today

Woodbury county
I started combining beans this afternoon.....two separate fields are 61 acres of flat river bottom ground. The 24 acres I combined this afternoon averaged 48 bushels an acre at 12.9 moisture and 57 pounds test weight. River bottom is in a 50/50 corn and soybean rotation. Two years ago this 24 acres yielded 62.8 and four years ago it yielded 63.8......so the 48 bushels an acre was a disappointment, though not totally unexpected. Soybeans were a 2.4 maturity in 30 inch rows planted the first week of May at 152,000 population. Soybeans are small and plants are very short for some reason. Doubt the remaining acres on my river bottom will yield any better.
