South Central Kansas | I have a one row New Idea P-111 picker that Dad used until 1970. Cant seem to google any pickers that come up with that number. All the pickers on Tractorhouse seem to start with a 2 or a 3, even the one row pickers. Does the P stand for picker, as opposed to snapper? Or might it stand for pull type, as opposed to a mounted?
Is this an older model, or just one that was not as commonly used in the corn belt? Seemed like there were several of them around here in the 50s and early 60s. Dad got this one when he traded in one just like it in the early 60s. The stalk rolls were badly worn on the other one and this one was in a lot better shape.
Is there any place to get parts for this old of a picker? I'm thinking of getting it fixed up to pick more corn some day. Been sitting outside, so it's in kinda sad shape.
This was probably one of the last pickers still working here in south central Kansas. Most farmers here went to milo after hybrid milo came out in the mid 50s because they could cut it with a wheat header.
Thanks for the help. | |
