Nav1 was used with the first generation of Autopilot (and the CNH systems as well). It's a long black box with round connectors on one end.

NavII is used with current (2nd gen) Autopilot and CNH guidance systems. It's a silver box about the size of a hardcover book, with 2 rectangular Deutsch connectors on one end.

Probably some life left in the Nav1 system, although AFAIK there is no further development on it, so what you get is what you get. No firmware updates, new features, etc. For the money, I'd probably go with EZ-Steer 500, which could be upgraded later to 2nd gen Autopilot.
