Sounds like you have a bad or stuck keypad. This is not real common but I have repaired several.
Moisture or corrosion is making the keypad behave as if you are continually pressing a button.
If you take the unit apart and disconnect the large ribbon connector from the processor board to the keypad I bet the scrolling will stop. Obviously this is not a fix but a troubleshooting trick.
