Subject: RE: Auto guide {beeline}

On accuracy if you are looking at RTK 2cm personally would recommend Trimble or AutoGuide/Beeline for year to year repeatability and have the capacity to stay accurate at higher speeds or on undulating country as both have true 6 axis gyro terrain compensation systems. Contray to some rumours in the field the gyro's in the AutoGuide/Beeline product do not have moving parts, they are solid state MEM's computer chip technology with a mean time between's failures of 50,000 hours. Anecdotally have had users say they feel the Autoguide/BEELINE is a little more user friendly than the Trimble and that the steer kits are significantly cheaper as the gyro is in the controller with the AutoGuide and can move between machines. With the Trimble system the gyro stays with the steer kit in the machine and therefore the difference in cost. Also depending on your budget and need for pass to pass accuracy have a long hard look at the AutoGuide HP system as it has the same standard of hardware as the RTK product, gyro's etc just minus the radio and 2cm auth code. In the field we are seeing it sit at between 3cm and 6 cm if you leave the machine stationary when resolving your signal, about 30 minutes. When you stop working for the day you can now also "seed" your position and/or set the timer to power the unit back up so it is ready and waiting fully resolved before you go to use it. Later there is nothing to stop you upgrading this system to 2cm. In Australia they have a pricing structure that see's growers only having to pay the difference between the RRP on different models if they want to upgrade later, no penalty for starting simple and working up to 2cm. Just an idea to save some dollars.
