As far as pulling the plug to look for shavings on the magnet-----they ALL will be coated pretty well with fines. I've never (sort of) been a patriot tech, but the willmars ran the same planetary's and they were this way. If any metal of any thickness is attached (chuncks) be weary. This is rare, they normally chuck a piece of a gear and very quickly self destruct after that point.
