southern MN | Yup. Fat32 is a common way of setting up the index of a storage device, and to put it simple, it runs out of page numbers at 4 gig and needs to start a second book - er, file.
NTFS is the other common file format. It uses the index differently so that it can hold many more pages; plus it allows files to have bigger pages so that files can get bigger than the hard drive most of us have - 4 terabyte or 256 terabyte as a single file is possible!
But, many cameras don't work with NTFS so you might be stuck with the Fat32 and the 4gig limit.
