Oregon
If I understand this issue correctly, they are considering a drone to be no different than any other asset that is used to alter the outcome of your revenue. For example, the images are being used to make an active decision to apply fertilizer, or another spray, which in turn could improve yield, which in turn could improve revenue. Or you could use the images to write a custom application, and maybe only end up using less fertilizer than you had historically, which would in theory lower your input costs. It all seems like a big gray area to me, but I see were there theory is coming from. I'm not saying it is right for the FAA to inhibit the use of drones for use on farms, but the lines have not yet been fine tuned enough.
