With the problems you are experiencing I believe you answered your own question. I think the SM500 would be exactly what you are looking for. Perhaps not the cheapest, but I think you would be the most satisfied in the end. Sometimes spending money on an expensive item is not justified until you actually see return, or monitor for better input management.
