Quite a few if not most old 6 volt systems were positive ground.

I've got a JD 2010 that is 12 volt and is positive ground also. It's probably  about the same vintage as the 55 combine would have been.

I've always noticed there seems to be almost no cable corrosion on positive ground systems vs negative ground.
