Attached is a PDF of the shift pattern that I hand drew.  Without knowing the pattern it would be a tough shift - and it may still seem like magic sometimes!  Once you understand it and kinda get the hang of it, you'll do it without thinking - you just have to sort of feel your way through it.  As noted in the diagram, the area noted as "belt pulley" is where you shift from the high range to low and vice versa.  I may have an actual diagram from a manual around somewhere if need be.  Hope this helps and feel free to ask questions.  I wish I had a 400!
