Subject: Re: Grain storage in shipping container?

Central / West Texas
We put some extra wheat in one a few years ago.  Had more than would fit in bins and no time to haul to the port.  Worked ok.  Rented the containers from the man who is now my father in law. I met the woman who is now my wife when I brought them back to his rental yard.  I guess that  deal worked out pretty good. lol  The ones we rented were 20' and had a neat little slot you could stack 2x6" lumber up and keep the grain from running out the door.  When it came time to empty it we put it over our drive over pit with our crane and took the 2x6"s out and let it run into the pit.  When it was near empty we lifted the back side of it up a little with the crane to get the last of the grain out.  Then augered it to one the the now empty bins.  I guess we filled each container about 1/2 to 2/3s the way full.  But we tilted it back quite a bit when it was getting near full.  It's kinda handy to have a 30 ton crane at your disposal sometimes
