That is why all of our Ford PU manuals say not to use the OD when pulling a trailer - they will not take it. Don't know why they would even put it in a ton truck if it won't stand up. If actually doing anything at all with it would pretty much eliminate using OD altogether. Even the manual transmissions OD is a weak point if used for heavy pulling. Saw an OD gear from a manual transmission at a farm show display that had gotton so hot it showed signs of the gears bending. The thing looked like it should be in a 20 horsepower garden tractor transmission, not something with a couple hundred horses.
