Probably just take them apart and clean them. the solenoid will get gummed up from slight internal leakage and sometimes the solenoid itself just gets rusty and needs a good shining and wd40ing. But with your age of the units I'd say you need to buy the rebuild kits which dont cost very much and are easy to put in. They will come with instructions, its been a while but I dont think I even had to take them off the sprayer it all comes out the top and bottom.
