Iowa | John Deere and Trimble use different projected coordinate systems. I used to know what projection each company uses but can't recall at the moment. Clay Mitchell gave a talk on it at InfoAg 2007 in Springfield, IL.
For further information, I'd recommend taking at a great book that ESRI publishes:
A to Z GIS: An illustrated dictionary of geographic information systems, edited by Tasha Wade and Shelly Sommer (Redlands, California: ESRI Press, 2006), 268 pages.
