I'd download a GEO referenced overhead photograph, and lay it out in something like Mapshots. Farmworks, SMS, or other application and use the mapping tools to calculate the acreage. You might even get the FSA or NRCS office to planimeter the ponds for you on their maps. Google Earth has some tools available on their commercial version that will do that. Do you have a consultant? Tell him to do it, that's what my growers do! Otherwise, you'll have to get a GPS a GPS/Computer combo unit that will run an offset, as a pond is one thing, even from a boat, that it is pretty hard to hug the shoreline to run the boundary.
