Subject: EZ steer used on STS for yield mapping?

I have been using e-z steer for a few years now, and last year was first was my first experience with a yield monitor in a combine(STS).
this year my dealer has been urging me to get do some yield mapping. he mentioned getting a used reciever (starfire?).
i thought maybe i could use my e-z steer 500 and some how hook it to the yield monitor.??
any thoughts on what i might need to get this process started? i have always thought we wouldn't need to do mapping and so forth,, but i am starting to see some good value in it.
any advise would be greatly appreciated. i just barely figured out that the yield monitor is a pretty neat tool, and would like to play with it further.
how do i tell if the system is a GS1 or GS2?
one machine is an '03 model, and other is '06.
