Subject: Your ATU settings

Dix (Boyd), IL
I'm curious what settings others are using for your JD ATU (steering speed, acquire, heading, and line).

I am running an 8200 tractor (2wd - no MFWD) with a 1780 12/23 planter, 1770 16-30 planter at about 6mph, 10th gear.

I also pull a redball sprayer with 90' booms about 10mph, 13th gear.

I sometimes pull a fert. buggy in 14th gear idled back (for 540 pto) at about 10mph.

Ground conditions, speed, and each implement seems to require tweeking. The problem I run into is that I seem to play with it too much, get confused as to which way to tune things, and end up going back down close to the manual starting settings to get the thing to settle down. I have learned that the tractor aquires the line in the headland much better when don't change speeds till the line is aquired.

Anyone running a similar setup or have any suggestions from similar experience as to how to set the atu in the GS2? I'm new to all this this spring.
