Subject: Re: Manure controll with insight

I am running a Jamesway with 8 knife injectors, Krohne flow meter and the Insight Direct Command controlling it. It took a couple of days to figure out how to get it to work, but after the "learning curve" it works really nice. The key is to have enough back pressure at the flow meter, other wise the slide gate will surge open and closed trying to find the right rate. I have a manual gate on the 6in tube right before the distributor and I closed it about half way to create that constant pressure. With it closed half way I was able to variable rate from 2500 gal/ac to 4000gal/ac.
If I wanted to apply outside that range I had to open or close the manual gate accordingly. Also you need to be able to slow your hydrolic flow to the slide gate (controll valve), I was able to do that from my tractor by turning it down to about 6-8% flow. Once you get that figured out it works just like a sprayer and it locks in on your target rate.

If you want some pics, let me know and I'll see if I can try to post some here.

Mike
