Sounds like the fuel pickup pipe in the tank has dropped off. Had a mazda that would run well on the first 1/2 tank and act like it was empty when it got to halfway. Pulled the tank out and found that it was only sucking from the top half of the tank. Put it back together and everything worked fine.
