can have snow as early as first week of october - but that will melt -
the worst is when you get a good snow at halloween - that probably will stick around until march
usually though, just as a general rule you can figure your first good snow right around thanksgiving holiday....then winter is here
I am in Southeast SD
been a crappy spring here also
