As high as necessary to get the proper overlap and coverage for your nozzles. Going higher generally won't make for bad coverage unless it's windy or there's temperature inversions. I've sprayed as high as 8ft with a hagie self propelled in tall corn- insecticide or fungicide- to get coverage.
