Leesburg, Ohio | After several partial days of installing wiring and components on an 8300, an 8420, and a planter, we went to the field today (without seed) to configure and try out the new Greenstar2 systems on RTK.
WOW! They really work nice! Fast, smooth, line aquisition. Steady and accurate guidance. Turned the planter around and ran the seed opener blades in the same slot as the previuos pass. Even steers around the 90 degree corners on the ends hands free.
We have had (and still have) an Agleader Ezsteer, and an Outback edrive and baseline. They are good systems for what they are designed to do, but the GS2's on RTK are (so far) much better.
Dutch and others with GS systems: Thanks for your advice when we were deciding which way to go.
I'm certainly not thrilled with Apex software so far, but hoping it will be able to set up our farms, fields, and boundaries without too much hassle.
We also have not been able to get the Swath-Pro and Rate-Controller to turn off the half-width disconnects on the planter yet, but the block man is working on that. I think it will be fine when we get it hooked to the sprayer.
Hoping to use these units to strip till, plant, spray, sidedress, and harvest. Even if we don't use it in corn harvest, bean harvest will be alot easier in the dust. | |
