West Texas | Well, there was a surprise for us last night. Tornado warnings went up for my area, and a line built up west of me. Knew it was gonna be bad, because it spent all evening building up, and then letting rip all at once. Got dime-size hail, wind, and .9" of rain. Lots of lightning, so I was offline all night. No tornado near me. Whew.
From the radar picture, and my own eyeballing, it looked like the storm line built up west of TX 349 to just shy of Lamesa, and then steamrolled east. Some large hail south of us to McCamey.
As droughts go, it's been a sorta damp one. Back in 1986, we had similar weather until Memorial weekend, and from then on it was the wettest year on record. After so many years of weird weather, I've started marking it up to "typical Texas weather". :-)
The switchgrass and streambank kika are greening up real nice. Everything else is lagging. The dropseed has yet to show a single green blade.
