Subject: RE: cotton gins --- closed or mothballed?

Hanford, CA
Cotton acres have dropped from 1million in 2000 to ~ 235K this year. On top of this, there are farms or coops that own gins that will grow cotton to feed the gin. If this were not the case, cotton acres would probably even drop further (prob. half). I don't foresee gins closing this year, but if this market continues into next year & 2010...it will be a definate that gins will be closing...how could they stay open. Just my thoughts from CA.
