Subject: RE: Ford NH 8970 vs 7250 CaseIH

We made the same decesion a few years ago. We already had a Genesis (86 size).

We bought a 7250 Magnum vs. the Genesis of same hours and tires. The Genesis cab is a little nicer, but the Magnum is comfortable, too. Magnum has 18 F speeds, Genesis has 16. The Genesis trans is nicer for F to R shuttle shifts, but the Magnum trans is just as smooth as the Genesis. Genesis turning radius is better, but the supersteer is quirky trying to get it down the rows (especially on a side hill).

I bought the 7250 because I think that the Cummins engine is better than the Genesis engine and the Magnum has an excellent reputation. Both are good tractors and we currently have both. They both have about 5000 hrs. The Genesis just had an overhaul on the engine, the Magnum (which we bought from a neighbor) has had no major problems.

Good luck.
