roaming | Hopefully you mean 1gig, not 1mb :-) Be sure you shut down any other programs that are running (Microsoft products, games, web browsers, financial software, etc.) before you try to import the data. 1GB is decent for XP, but as I indicated earlier, importing spatial data is very resource intensive.
How long have you let it sit after the work area goes blank. Some earlier versions of AFS software would actually continue working in the background, but it looked like they were locked up. I'd let it sit for a half-hour or so and see if it snaps out of it. | |
