Subject: RE: Kip Cullers and vinegar

Arkansas
I have talked to Kip several times over the winter, and he will admit that he doesn't really know if vinegar does anything. Because of his high plant population (225,000 plant/ac), plants are tall and spindly and will tend to lodge. He is looking for anything that will shorten the internode length, making plants shorter and less likely to lodge. He has also used a reduced rate of Corbra, but applied at the wrong time will cause bloom/pod drop. I will be evaluating vinegar and other products this year to see if anything works.

As for the 'Race for 100', the highest yield in the competition last year was 92 bu/ac. I was expecting someone to break 100 bu/ac last year, but the dry, hot conditions we had here in Arkansas between mid-July to the first of September really hurt soybean yields.
